ASV notes on Genesis 22:11-14

שלום חברי

The obedience of Abraham testified that he feared his God. Abraham loved his God, but in this love is also fear, not trembling fear, but a kind of great respect that God always wants the best for his children, Abraham, and his descendants. Abraham’s faith was important to God.

Abraham had given God the most precious he had on this earth, God wants to be loved with the best we have. Then God loved Abraham back, because Abraham gave his son Isaac, God is responding by giving His son for the descendants of Abraham, the Hebrews and then the whole world.

To kill Isaac wouldn’t have helped anybody, but sacrificing the Son of God would give the entire world a way to “life” on earth and a life forever with God in heaven. Jesus died for the sin in us to give us a new spirit to overcome the sin in our life.

ASV notes on Genesis 16:6-11

Sarah was the wife of Abraham and still the mistress in her house and Abraham allowed Sarah to threat Hagar as she wanted. Sarah was rough towards her  maid and Hagar fled into the dessert. It was not the will of God that Hagar should have a child with Abraham, but God is a fair God and sent an angel to comfort her in her escape into the dessert.

Abraham accepted that Sarah was hard with Hagar, but God didn’t like it and the angel comforted her, telling her about the future, about her son Ishmael and said; “Because the Lord has heard and paid attention to your persecution” and Hagar went back to her mistress in assurance that God was looking after her too.

God is watching you also, He knows what you’re going through and He would love to help you, but he needs to connect to your heart. God is spirit and you are flesh, there is no direct line between spirit and flesh. You need to install a spiritual internet into your heart to receive from God. And that “internet” is Jesus; it works 24/7 and is free.

ASV notes on Genesis 7:11-12

How can we understand this; “All the fountains of the great deep burst open” It could be that in the centre of the earth there was a huge amount of water, called the great deep and God made it burst open for it to flood out, it says that it burst open, that could mean that the water that streamed out is no longer there.

And then we have; “The windows and floodgates of the heavens were opened” The water above those windows and floodgates could be in the heavens outside the universe, above the firmament and it seems that God opened those windows and gates for the water to flood down like heavy, heavy rain. Then after 40 days He closed them and it could be that in this “room” there is an infinite amount of water for use when needed.

ASV notes on Genesis 7:15-16

All the living went in two by two which there was the breath and spirit of life; there are spirits in animals and God can communicate with them, but they too can disobey God and be possessed by evil spirits. Seven pairs of clean animals went into the wooden box, and one pair of unclean and crawling things and God picked all of them and led them to the ark. In the ark there were no evil spirits.  The spirit of life is in animals and it seems likely that we will have animals in heaven.

ASV notes on Genesis 7:24

When the flood started it rained for forty days until the water covered the earth completely, 23 feet above the highest mountain peak, and then the water stayed like that for 150 days before it started to decline.
