ASV notes on Genesis 15:1-8 and questions

שלום חברי   רוח הקודש

What are you listening to?

God talks with Abraham

After Abraham had come back from beating the four kings and bringing Lot and his family in safety, met Melchizedek and the Sodom king, God and Abraham had a conversation about the future an important and interesting talk.

Vengeance from east

This was a time of war; Abraham had just killed many people from the east, soldiers of the four kings of Mesopotamia. He had killed a lot of fathers and sons and could expect vengeance from their families, but also he had gained a lot of respect in the land of Canaan and in the valley of Jordan. Abraham was both loved and hated.

God promise protection

Then God met him and the first thing He said to Abraham was; “Do not be afraid, Abram,
I am your shield; Your reward shall be very great
.” Humanly speaking this was a time for uncertainty and fear for Abraham, but God made it clear to him that He was stronger and greater than the gods of his enemies and would protect him and his family as He did in Egypt.

Faith makes righteousness

What happened next was that Abraham believed God; he had experienced God for a long time and this together with the closeness to God resulted in faith. God saw that Abraham believed in his heart and that made Abraham righteous, he was given the righteousness of Jesus.

The importance of what you hear

What made Abraham believe God in these times of fear and war? the reason is all the words from the mouth of God that Abraham had heard and collected in his heart. The faith comes from hearing. If what you hear comes from the world and medics your faith will be in the world and in the medics, but hearing the word of God will result in believing God.

Was Sarah the one?

Sarah could not have children, But God took Abraham outside his tent and told him that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars on the sky. Abraham believed in God’s greatness, but still he could not grasp this in his mind, his thinking was based on the fact that Sarah could not have children and he said to God shall this Eliezer from Damascus inherit all that I have.

Faith in God

Abraham believed that God had a plan, but what was it, did God mean that he should take another wife that could give him children? God just said that this Eliezer should not inherit him and left it there for Abraham to believe in his good and reliable friend God, YaHaWaH.

The questions

  1. Do you receive words from God?
  2. What are you mainly listening to?
  3. What does faith come from?

ASV notes on Genesis 8:2

Water

Here it seems like the fountains of the deep also were closed, indicating that there still was water in the centre of the earth.

ASV notes on Genesis 8:15-17

The same

When reading how God watched Noah and his family on top of the water and how God was talking to Noah it is of vital importance to consider that God is the same today as He was in the days of Noah. If He talked to Noah with love and care, He can do the same to you.

In you?

No, now you can say, Noah was of vastly more importance than me, no, he wasn’t, what made Noah important to God, was the fact that God considered Noah righteous and that Noah listened to God and did what He told him. You are treated in the same way, it depends on righteousness, not on Noah, and not on you, but on Jesus, being in you or not.

question to consider

  1. Is God talking to you?
  2. Are you as important to God as Noah was?

ASV notes on Genesis 6:9-12 and questions

Walking with God

The way not the subway

Noah and his family were no better than the rest of the sinful people around him, like if you are borne again and walk with Jesus every day, you are no better than murders and thieves around you. The righteousness of Noah was not in Noah, but in the fact that he walked with God every day. You can say that he walked with God, but not every day. Yes, every day, God is walking; if you are not walking with Him every day, then you are behind. Jesus is the way for you to walk on; He is not a train or a car for you to sit in.

God understands and is good

Noah was preaching the word of God and that made him righteous in the eyes of the Lord, God is not demanding perfection, He looks to your heart and notices the intention behind your actions. God influenced Noah with His goodness and Noah led it on to his family.

 Our flesh

When the sins Grow

Now the population on earth was corrupt and debased, the moral was low and the earth filled with violence. The world was rotten, it was stinking, and decomposing, there was no rescue. Like when you forget some meat in the fridge and find it, the meat is useless and stinks, polluting everything in the fridge.

Conned

Only with God, can we resist the development of sin in life; there is no resistance power in your flesh, or in yourself. Against the sin in us, exploited by the devil, the master of seduction we have no chance. We have lost the battle, however feeling good until one disaster comes after the other.

Questions

  1. Are you a good person?
  2. When being saved, what should you do?
  3. How does God estimate you?
  4. What is the aim of the flesh?
  5. Can we master the sin?
