Look after God’s people
Jotham became king at the age of 25 and reigned 16 years over Judah in Jerusalem, it says he was a good king, however he died only 41 so something must have been wrong. Jotham became God’s king, not a king to please himself, he had to look after God’s people and keep them in harmony with Him. Jotham huge mistake being, not removing the high places with alters and shrines, places to sacrifice to any god. However, God didn’t tell them to have cults everywhere on the mountains.
Of corruption
On the contrary, He told them to sacrifice only in the temple of Jerusalem. Jotham had a good relationship with his God, however, he didn’t teach his people to do it right. To get the correct picture we need to read the prophet Isaiah chapter 1. Here God tells Isaiah how the people of Judah is behaving. “The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.” Because the people of Judah didn’t meditate about their God, didn’t go to Jerusalem to sacrifice and be influenced of Godly behaviour, they turned into a sinful and evil people of corruption.
Good people do not exist
What is a corrupt people, Corrupt people perform immoral or illegal acts for personal gain, something corrupt is rotten, A corrupt person is a criminal, a crook, and brings society down with immoral and dishonest behaviour? A morally corrupt person is someone who in their mind has justified an act that is “evil” to be fair and if they can get away with something, then it is ok to do it. The reason is not being bad people, it is not their childhood or having bad parents or bad friends or unlucky situations. The only reason is staying away from the only God, the father of Jesus Christ. Good people do not exist, only people without Jesus or with Him.
The recipe
Jotham an irresponsible king, not teaching his people the truth, leading his country into disaster further on, still on the line to Jesus. Today we have governments and leaders not putting God first, expelling Him from schools and society, it is up to you, don’t expect any help from outside, receive Jesus to save you from this evil world, do it today, He has given you the recipe in his love letter “The Bible”
