Milcah the daughter of Haran
Abraham had a brother, Nahor, he lived in Haran with his wife Milcah, and Milcah was the daughter of Haran the firstborn of Terah, Abraham’s father. Haran died in Ur in Chaldea before they left for Canaan. Terah died in Haran and Abraham and Lot the son of Haran left the rest of the family and traveled to Canaan the land God promised Abraham.
Bethuel
Haran was a center that all the trading caravans came through heading west and now some of the people coming from Haran brought news to Abraham who knew the area well where the trading was going on. They told him about his family in Haran and that Milcah had born eight male children to Nahor and among them Bethuel who became the father of Rebekah.
Wife
Abraham now had all the information he needed, where to travel to find a wife for his son Isaac. The people living in Canaan at that time didn’t know the only God, and they were of low morale and Abraham didn’t want Isaac to look for a wife there. Now he knew that there were many daughters in the Nahor family back in Haran in the east.
